| Customer Reviews: another great litle box! June 20, 2010 A. Jordan (Essex, England) great for first time growers - it has everything you need to start your own little veggie patch :-)
Fun little present March 5, 2010 Mr. L. A. Prettyjohns (Cambridge) I bought this for my dad, because he said he had always wanted his own vegetable patch and now he has ONE!!! :D
Great for people wanting to gain green fingers and have no experience! September 8, 2009 Steveo Stokes (Hampshire, UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Great little product this is, within a week I had my seedling vegetables shooting up from the cocunut husk pots and then was able to replant into bigger planters ready for a vegetable harvest! I just grew them in my kitchen.. not particular sunny or warm!
My only negative comment would be with the compost discs... they require abit of patience, you need to soak them in some water and break them up manually to make the compost to fill the pot. You can't just leave them soaking and they magically make compost like the instructions say. If you're scared of getting your fingers dirty then you might as well not bother!
Also, after doing several trips around local garden centres, I think you'd pay alot more than the retail price on this set if you were to buy seeds, compost and pots seperately.
Lots of fun to plant - But contains different veggies to the ones listed! February 26, 2010 Stacey McSweeney (England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I ordered this kit yesterday as part of my seven year old daughter's science project (she is home schooled). It arrived this morning via Amazon Prime. She had the best time planting her seeds and getting her fingers mucky loosening the compost. We are now looking forward to watching our seeds grow before planting them out.
The only things I would like to point out are:
The pack actually contains green beans, salad leaves, tomatoes, carrots and peas and does not contian spring onions, pumpkins and cucumber as stated on the Amazon listing.
The water leaks out of the pots as when you add water so its best to use a tray. Those who are old hands at seeding will already know to expect this, but just a word of caution for those that are new to seeding.
The compost does rise after you water the discs but it takes a while. You will need to help loosen and seperate it after it has expanded - messy but fun if you don't mind getting mucky fingers. :o)
This is a great quality kit is very easy to use and lots of fun for both grown ups and children! Excellent value for money!
All in all this is a really great product. The only reason I have given it four stars is because it does not contain what I thought would. After ordering the kit yesterday, I ordered beans and peas from elsewhere so now have double the amount and I'll now have to order spring onions, cucumber and pumkin seeds seperately!
Grow your own Veg April 16, 2010 Annie (UK) Really easy to do and they started gwoing really quick, i now need to re-pot them. Nice idea as a present, i bought my friend the herb garden one and she loved it.
